How to get Kelp
Pick Kelp free as your starter, or hatch it from a Glim Egg — every egg rolls a mystery species and coat. Eggs are earned, never sold: the Wishing Well returns one on ~1-in-8 spins, weekly quests pay one each, and the 8-hour Grand Expedition finds one nearly half the time. Expeditions to Tidepool Cove can also introduce you to its natives for your Glimkpedia.
Evolution: Hatchling → Juvenile → Adult → Radiant
Bond — earned through varied care, granted wishes, and shared adventures — carries Kelp through four life stages: Juvenile at 25 bond, Adult at 120, and Radiant at 320. A Radiant Kelp wears a golden crown designed just for sea-dragons, sheds innate starlight, and shows off on your public keeper page. Bond never decays — every point is forever.
Coat variants
Kelp can hatch in 4 coats: Common (70%), Duskborn (15%), Dawnkissed (12%), Starlit (3%). The Starlit Kelp sheds its own starlight and announces itself with a RARE banner at the hatch. Already raising a Kelp you love? A museum-rare Prism Brush can repaint its coat — if you can find one.
Care notes
Every Kelp is born with two secret favorite foods and two it will absolutely refuse to enjoy — discovering them is half the fun (watch for hearts). It makes one wish a day in its thought bubble; granting it is the biggest bond boost there is. And when it's stuffed or bursting with energy, it will politely refuse more — a full belly-waddle refusal is its own reward.
